Over the years, one of the sad situations I see too often is when a spouse quits his or her job in preparation for a divorce. That’s a bad move and one that I do not countenance. We are very aggressive in this situation. If you leave your job without either the medical necessity or some other valid reason, you will be held accountable to that income. That is a decision that will have substantial, financial ramifications.
I do not allow my clients to leave their jobs unless they have the law and the facts behind them. When it happens to me on the other end, in other words, when I am representing the spouse whose husband or wife has left their job, I will ensure that there are financial consequences for that.
